The European Folk Network conference, taking place in Kaustinen from 24-25 September, will bring together dozens of folk music and folk dance professionals from different important organisations in Europe. The theme of the conference is the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage. The programme includes presentations, workshops and panel discussions on topics such as music education, media and traditional dances among others. Conference offers opportunities for delegates to discuss on EFN's future actions and build working groups.
Delegates are also invited to pitch their own ideas and interest in
the Open Mic session.
Musical performances will be given by Maija Kauhanen (FI), El Pony Pisador (ES), Teho. (FI), Local young talents and music groups Näppärit, JunioriOttoset, Iikka Huntus & Erkki Virkkala, Tallari feat. Mehrnoosh Zolfaghari (IR/FI).
The conference is organised by European Folk Network, Kaustinen Folk Music Festival and Finnish Folk Music Institute.
For the 2024 conference EFN and Kaustinen offers a unique opportunity to explore this remarkable part of rural Finland and its importance to folk traditions, whilst meeting and sharing ideas with a host of other people and organisations active in the folk arts from across Europe - and experiencing music and dance each evening.

EFN Members 75 € (includes all conference servings)
Non-members of EFN 55 € - 100 €
Students 20 € - 50 €
