Transmission Methods for Traditional Dance Culture – The Hungarian Dance House Model
The Dance as ICH: New models of facilitating participatory dance events (Dance – ICH) project focuses on dance as ICH and the relationship between local dance heritage communities, museums, heritage institutions, and the public. The international project brings together nine partners from six countries (Norway, Slovenia, Greece, Romania, Belgium, and Hungary) with the aim of exploring the contemporary impact and relevance of the adaptation of dance tradition in museums and the mutual presentation of good practices. Dance and music researchers, museologists, and heritage experts work together in the project. The project will conclude with a joint participatory exhibition on dance as intangible cultural heritage.
The meeting will take place in Hungary, Szentendre in the Hungarian Open Air Museum on 25th–28th May 2023 with two streamed sessions. Our focus is the transmission method of traditional dances, in particular the Hungarian dance house method, which was selected on UNESCO's register of good safeguarding pracHces.
